About The Decided Life
The Christian life is one which lives unreservedly for Jesus—it is the Decided Life. For many, the Christian faith means no more than just a traditional ritual which connects us to our families, our pasts and even to other people. It can certainly be that, but the life which is historically, biblically and truly Christian is one which impacts the entirety of one's being—from church, to family, to work, to recreation.
This site is dedicated to helping people better understand the Christian faith. The Christian faith is for the young, the old, men as well as women, educated as well as uneducated, rich and poor, pastors and laypersons and everyone inbetween. Jesus Christ has called each one of us into relationship with Him that we might have faith in Him, live by faith in Him, know Him intimately and as a result know and love each other more fully and therefore glorify God and enjoy Him forever.
If you do not consider yourself a Christian, I hope you will learn more about the Christian faith and consider it thoughtfully. But I also hope that there are resources within this site for people of every level—from people new in the faith, to those seasoned in the faith. May you and the church be strengthened as a result of this experiment.
About Jake Hanson
It is my desire and call to impart the truths of the life-transforming Gospel of Jesus Christ by any means by which the Lord calls and empowers me, including—but not limited to—preaching, teaching and writing. This site is an extension of the passion.
This site also has a story. From my days in high school, I have looked up to many men and women in the faith who have exemplified the Christian life. One of my primary heroes is Billy Graham. If you know anything about the ministry of Billy Graham, you know that in the wake of his evangelistic crusades, he set up a program to follow up on those who responded to the Gospel message. His vision was for the people who had made "decisions" to grow into maturity. One of those attempts at giving food to young believers is Decision Magazine as well as his radio program, "The Hour of Decision." The name, The Decided Life, is a play on this.
Another important influence on my thoughts is the ministry of 18th century evangelist John Wesley. We have much to learn from Wesley in regard to follow-up. His follow-up and discipleship program is admirable, even if flawed. While Billy Graham's ministry relied heavily on local church effectiveness, John Wesley relied on his own movement. Future discipleship movements would do well to learn from the ministries of both Billy Graham and John Wesley and perhaps bridge the gap toward a healthy interaction with the local churches while still maintaining significant programs to help young believers bridge the gap from their lives to the life of the church--a huge gap for many.
The program of the Decided Life and this website is an attempt to build on the foundation which the ministry of Billy Graham, John Wesley and others have laid to bring souls to the Lord and lead them on into mature believers who will live productive lives in the Spirit of God.
The Lord has called me to the task of being His ambassador in a way that helps bring the people of God into maturity. This site is an extension of that call. I look forward to hearing comments, critiques and hopefully a few encouragements along the way. Simply send me an email at masterswordsmen4@yahoo.com or fill out the form in the "contact" section.
Resources
On the left-hand sidebar, you will find more resources. It is my hope that these resources will help you as you walk along in this Decided Life. Within these resources, you will find Articles which delve into all aspects of the Christian faith, and a series of sermons I have preached over these few years. I offer them humbly with the hope that the Lord would use what He has placed on my heart to encourage His people.
The Decided Life also includes biographical sketches which I have thematically called 'Decided Lives.' These are lives which will encourage you to live more faithfully to the Lord Jesus Christ.
And finally, I am also including Bible teaching that I have done which enrich the study of the Scriptures.
Of course, I also have a blog. I hope that you will also read my blog with entries which I will be thoughtful and thought provoking. In other words, they will not be entries that take your time up with details of my personal life. If they are not worth your time, I will try not to post them.
